Our
Partnerships:
We foster
relationship-building, co-operation, co-ordination and
information-sharing between community groups and Local and State
Government by encouraging a diversity of membership in our group,
and encouraging community feedback and partnership in the
development our natural resource management projects. We continue
developing partnership projects with:
- Sarina Shire Council,
- Broadsound Shire Council,
- CSR Distilleries,
- CSR Plane Creek Mill,
- Hay Point Services,
- Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal,
- Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service,
- and community groups and landholders in our catchment
area.
We
offer regular community participation activities &
skill-development programs:
We manage the
SLCMA Community Nursery and the SLCMA Community Volunteer Program.
These programs implement biodiversity conservation and
rehabilitation actions in our catchment.
We encourage
community involvement in environmental
monitoring through the Sarina Healthy Waterways
Program.
We disseminate
information on natural resource issues throughout the Sarina
Catchment
we support their Involved in the development of the Mackay
Whitsunday Natural Resource Management Plan, by encouraging them to
identify and report on local catchment environmental
issues.
We regularly
undertake Envirofund projects within our catchment and more
than 8 Sarina Green
Corps projects have been undertaken since
1997.
We are soon
to undertake further community consultation to deliver
on-ground works through the Sustainable Landscapes Program
as activities of the Sarina Landcare Catchment Management
Strategy.
