The cross regional strategies and
regionally-based projects within this theme focus on activities
which will maintain the region’s biodiversity, coastal and
marine resources.
We are building the capacity of the community to be part of this
region’s environmental solutions by involving people in
protecting our natural assets. People throughout the region
participate in ongoing education and monitoring programs and
other project-based approaches.
The development of regional and
local planning schemes are important to outcomes in this theme. We
put activities into practice which protect key biodiversity,
coast and marine assets by investing with our Local
Governments in both the management of beach access and natural
asset education.
BIODIVERSITY:
The ‘Biodiversity Back on Track’ - species
prioritization framework identified actions that will benefit many
species together through activities in this cross-regional
project.
Platypus Futures This project works on
involving the whole community in changing grazing practices
to improve riparian and waterways health in the Bowen, Broken and
Bogie Catchments. It is a cross-regional project which aims to
'fix' Broken River in the Eungella community.
